Collections Update

We started with collections. We’ve helped some of S&P 500’s most hard-working brands collect more than $1B to-date that would be late or otherwise unpaid. This matters. Our businesses have come out of the red, acquired new businesses with their savings, and it’s given CFOs real-time visibility into working capital and the ability to define and test collection strategies across your entire customer portfolio. Then measure the results, not just collect faster.

Today we enter a new, even more powerful era in true automation and close the loop on the entire order to cash process, and I want to share more. When you hear automation in AR, it mostly still means that humans are making decisions and handling the exceptions. Yes, there's autonomous parts and they do save hundreds of hours and millions of dollars, but there is so much in AR that remains manual and painful.

Why? The solutions didn't exist, the agent doesn't learn, the pieces feel disconnected, context isn’t there, classifications are wrong, human escalation feels constant, and AR is left babysitting the technology instead of setting strategy. The toolset has only enabled backward-looking questions, with no ability to see what's coming, address risk, get smarter, and handle before it becomes a problem.

Today Stuut doesn't just help you do things faster, we now understand, decide, and execute, anchored to the strategy you set. You define the policy. The agent runs the plays. In addition, our agent is able to learn the exceptions to the core policies as humans intervene. Building up knowledge about exceptions is key to unlocking the true power of AI.  Here’s how we look at it, including new features we’re excited to share around SMS, Cash Application, and Disputes:

Stuut’s Collections Skill: Proactively reaches out before invoices are overdue across email, SMS, and voice. Finds the right contacts and personalizes outreach based on nuanced, complex, and historical customer patterns. You define the approach, then the agent executes without manual intervention. To date, Stuut Collections has collected more than $1B.

Introducing SMS

Today we're excited to introduct SMS. Collections teams know emails and phone calls are not enough. SMS is another modality within Collections that offers two-way engagement at critical moments and increases the chance of response. Customers respond on their own time, and Stuut understands and routes responses intelligently.

Introducing Disputes

We’re also excited to introduce today Stuut’s Disputes. By far one of the most requested skill for the most manual and painful processes scattered across emails, messages, and notes, and by the time anyone notices, revenue has been lost, cash is leaking and customers are demanding write-offs. We make disputes proactive, integrated into Stuut's entire order-to-cash cycle and your existing company systems. It detects problems earlier, improves overall cash flow, and analyzes to develop more proactive strategies that reduce leakage and improve overall cash flow.

Payments: Automatically processes incoming payments and provides click-to-pay functionality that makes it easy for customers to settle accounts.

Stuut’s Cash Application instantly matches payments to correct invoices across your ERP, eliminating manual reconciliation. Applies context from customer history, payment patterns, and terms. You'll always know what's actually cleared versus what's still outstanding. Doesn’t just flag unmatched payments but resolves them.

Deductions: Identifies and resolves deductions autonomously, determining valid claims and recovering revenue that would otherwise slip away. Instead of writing off losses, you see them coming and can intervene.

What we've built isn't software that helps your team click buttons faster. It's an agent that understands, decides, and executes across the entire order to cash cycle, while your team sets strategy and controls outcomes. We're a team of 50, based in NYC, all with deep knowledge of the pain in AR, and the power of technology, engineering, and a mission-driven team to help solve it. If Stuut has helped you. I’d love to hear from you.

Tarek grew up in Michigan and wrestled at Indiana University while working blue-collar jobs. At Total Quality Logistics, he discovered most past-due invoices stemmed from clerical errors requiring endless manual work—the exact problem Stuut now solves autonomously. After co-founding Fairmarkit, he started Stuut, which delivers 40% revenue improvements in days, not months.

Frequently asked questions  about DSO

Is a higher or lower DSO better?
Lower is better because it means cash reaches your account faster. A DSO of 35 days is better than 55 days if your payment terms are the same.
Does DSO include current AR?
Yes. DSO reflects the total dollar amount you're owed from outstanding invoices, including invoices that aren't yet due.
How does bad debt affect DSO?
Writing off bad debt reduces your AR balance, which artificially lowers DSO even though no cash was collected. Ensure your AR figure is net of bad debt reserves for accurate measurement.
Should I calculate DSO monthly or annually?
Both. Annual DSO tracks long-term trends, while monthly DSO helps you spot process problems quickly and take corrective action before they compound.
What's the difference between DSO and CEI?
DSO measures collection speed in days. CEI measures collection quality as a percentage. A company can have low DSO but poor CEI if they're writing off accounts aggressively.
Can I reduce DSO without upsetting customers?
Yes. Proactive communication before due dates, helpful reminders, and fast dispute resolution improve customer experience while accelerating payment.
